Doug Glaum

Hall of Fame Class of 2010

Doug Glaum (class of 1981) – Doug was a three-sport athlete at Aptos High School, earning eight varsity letters (three in basketball, three in baseball, two in football). In football, Doug was a two-year starter at slot-back, and earned All-League Honorable Mention as a senior. He was also a member of the 1979 SCCAL championship team.

In baseball, Doug was a three-year starter, was 1st team All-League and All-County as a senior, played on two SCCAL championship teams, and lost the SCCAL batting championship on the last at-bat of his senior season (he batted .404 for the season). However, it was in basketball where Doug really stood-out. A three-year starter, Doug was twice 1st team All-League and All-County, a two-time team MVP, and he was the 1981 SCCAL Player-of-the-Year. As a junior, he set the AHS and SC County single-game scoring record (49 points), and as a senior he led the league in scoring. He also led the Mariners to the SCCAL team championship his senior year. For his career, Doug scored over 1050 points and shot 92% from the free-throw line. He was also selected to the CCS North-South All-Star Game as a senior, where he led the South in scoring. In 1981, Doug was selected as the AHS Male Athlete-of-the-Year. Remarkably, Doug won four SCCAL team championships in three varsity sports during his high school career. Today, Doug lives in Aptos with Erika, his wife of twenty-one years, and his four children, Marli, Mikayla, Gunnar, and Gavin. They own and operate the Palm Deli, and Doug, together with his siblings, runs the Glaum Egg Ranch. Doug was presented into the Hall by former coach, Steve Miles.
