Mike Gruber

Hall of Fame Class of 2004

Mike Gruber (class of 1970) – Selected as Aptos High’s first Male Athlete-of-the-Year, Mike lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. After Aptos, Mike moved-on to Cabrillo College, where he was selected as team captain and MVP in men’s basketball. Also at Cabrillo, Mike placed third in the half-mile at the Coast Conference Track and Field Championships. Mike matriculated to Gonzaga University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Biology in 1974, and where he was named the basketball team’s Most Inspirational Player and the university’s Scholar-Athlete. Mike graduated from UCLA’s School of Dentistry in 1979, and while maintaining his dental practice in Aptos, he has been the head varsity boys basketball coach at Harbor High School for the past 21 years. Mike resides in Aptos with his wife Sally and their four children, Shaun, Erin, Quinn, and Colin. Mike was presented into the Hall by his brother Dan.
