Yousseff Abed
Hall of Fame Class of 2007
Yousseff Abed (class of 1978) – As a wrestler, Yousseff was a two-time CIF state wrestling finalist. In 1977, he finished second in the state at 154 lbs., and in 1978 he finished second at 165 lbs. He was a three-time SCCAL champion, a CCS Region Five Sub-Section champion, and a CCS champion. Yousseff finished fifth at the Junior World Championships his senior year, and he was also a Freestyle and Greco-Roman state champion. At Aptos, Yousseff had a career record of 132 wins and only 29 losses. His senior year his record was 39-4, with 36 pins. After graduating from Aptos, Yousseff matriculated to San Francisco State University, where he was a scholarship wrestler and water-polo player, earning honors in both sports. Yousseff graduated from SFSU with a BS in Business Administration. He also met his wife, Lauri, at SFSU. Today Yousseff and Lauri live in Martinez, and they have two children, Stephanie and Jordan. Yousseff is a computer scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, and he coaches wrestling at Alhambra High School. Yousseff was presented into the Hall by his former coach, Gordon Leighton.
